As excitement builds for this week’s RBC Canadian Open, the team at Hiatus Magazine had the privilege of attending the tournament’s Media Day last month at the stunning TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley, host venue for Canada’s national championship.

From the moment we arrived, it was clear that something special was taking shape. Walking the same fairways that will soon challenge some of the world’s best golfers was already a memorable experience. But seeing the venue come to life—with grandstands rising around key holes and tournament infrastructure taking shape—offered a fascinating glimpse into what fans can expect this week.

The TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley is an impressive championship venue, combining a modern design with exceptional conditioning and world-class facilities. Having the opportunity to play the course before the professionals arrive was a true privilege. Every tee shot, every green, and every vantage point provided a reminder of the stage that is now set for one of the biggest events in Canadian golf.
The day was made even more enjoyable by sharing the experience with our friend and colleague Max Lalonde from Sortez Golfez. Between shots, conversations about the course, and discussions about the upcoming tournament, we were able to fully appreciate a unique day surrounded by fellow golf enthusiasts.

Media Day also featured the official announcement of several players confirmed for this year’s championship. Hearing the names of the stars who will be competing this week added another level of excitement and anticipation for what promises to be a memorable tournament.

One of the highlights of the day was the opportunity to see the iconic RBC Canadian Open trophy up close. A symbol of one of the oldest tournaments in professional golf, the trophy represents more than a century of history and tradition. Seeing it in person was a powerful reminder of the prestige associated with Canada’s national championship.

Now, as tournament week has finally arrived, we look back on Media Day with gratitude. It offered a rare opportunity to experience the venue before the crowds, gain insight into the event behind the scenes, and feel the energy building ahead of one of the most anticipated weeks on the Canadian golf calendar.

One thing is certain: TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley is ready for the spotlight, and we can’t wait to follow the action as the RBC Canadian Open unfolds this week.
