Welcome to a day in the world of Bunker Club—a roving, roguish members’ club for women and queers that’s rethinking the game of golf from the ground up. We’re rooted in Los Angeles, but our version of the sport plays out in unexpected places: on rooftops, at roadside diners and in private leagues and vintage cars. For us, golf is less about score and more about story. And this day? It’s one of our favorites. One that hits all the right notes: good food, great company and just enough golf to keep your soul steady.

It isn’t your typical round. The visual tone here leans more Wes Anderson meets coastal sport noir than country club classic. There’s a soft cinematic thread to the whole day: layered knits, fleece on fairways, eucalyptus haze. A foursome that looks like they could be in a band (or maybe just broke into a vintage golf archive). The energy is sun-washed and subversive: golf as a backdrop for friendship, rhythm and real style. Slightly rebellious. Fully alive.

Stop one: Beachwood Cafe

Start your day under the lemons. Beachwood Cafe is a Canyon gem tucked just below the Hollywood sign, a cosmic neighborhood spot that somehow makes eggs feel magical. Built in the 1920s, it hums with nostalgia and love. It's where we always land before a round at Roosevelt. There’s something so whimsical about the Beachwood neighborhood and fun-loving humans who buzz in and around the cafe. Our go-to orders? The Runyon or Nichols scramblette named after our favourite canyon drives, ideally with the top down and nowhere to be but a tee time. It’s not just breakfast, it’s pre-round alchemy. One part ritual, one part nourishment, two parts knowing you’re about to walk into a great day with the right crew.

Stop two: Roosevelt Golf Course (9-hole)

One of our forever favourite afternoon rounds: Roosevelt Golf Course. Perched in Griffith Park and winding through eucalyptus and skyline views, this 9-hole muni is an LA classic. It’s scrappy, scenic and soaked in character. We had a dream foursome: Bunker Club members Amanda Savage (a comedian/talent) and Justine Brown (sports enthusiast turned golf fanatic) and Florence Gagnon (hiatus founder), each bringing their own je ne sais quoi to the course. We had some insane shots, vintage bags that got to park right on the green, a little chaos and pure comedy. Roosevelt’s charm is in its range: beginners, legends and everyone in between. It’s where Bunker began hosting some of our first meetups and where we still return to reset. A course that doesn’t take itself too seriously (like us) but still gives you moments of real magic.

Midday recos: Garret Leight + Metalwood

Post-round, we popped over to Metalwood Studio, a Bunker-approved playground of vintage finds, tour relics and androgynous streetwear silhouettes. The shop sits at the intersection of golf history and golf future and, like us, Metalwood is here to make the sport feel more personal, weirder and a little more alive. Then we took our time heading down La Brea. Second stop: Garrett Leight California Optical. It’s a warm, open space that feels like a golf vacation in lens form. Their shades are our go-to for sunny rounds. Loving the new Adonis S spring summer silhouette.

End-of-day options: Terranea for another 9 holes or dinner at All Time

If you’ve got another round in you, Terranea’s par-3 course is the golden-hour finish we dream about. Ocean cliffs, short wedges and salty air. It’s the kind of spot that makes you fall in love with your swing again.More often than not, we find ourselves closing things out at All Time over a Big Steak Event, natural wines and chocolate chip cookies. A neighborhood restaurant and wine bar with a backyard that feels like you stumbled into someone’s secret dinner party.

This is Bunker

A place where you show up fully as yourself. Where the game is just the backdrop for connection, care and curiosity. Whether it’s a classic 9 with Amanda and Justine and our friends from hiatus or a vivacious dinner that turns into the cap to a perfect day, our rounds are never just about golf. They’re about what it opens up.
